Art on Mars est né d’une volonté de partager un regard critique sur l’art contemporain, depuis Marseille, où le projet a vu le jour. Art on Mars accorde une attention particulière à l’actualité locale dans la rubrique On Mars, mais reste curieux de la scène contemporaine au sens large, comme en témoigne la rubrique Beyond Mars.
